Swim England release dates for 2025 open water national events

Swim England has confirmed the dates for its open water competitions for 2025.

Two national events will once again take place in the last weekend of July, starting with the GoCardless Swim England Open Water National Age Group Championships.

That will be held on Saturday 26 July before the GoCardless Swim England Open Water National Masters Championships takes place just 24 hours later.

The venue for both events will be Sheffield’s Rother Valley Country Park – the same venue that hosted both events in 2024.

Portsmouth Northsea took the top club award at the National Age Group Championships earlier this year, after securing two golds and two silvers in the morning session.

It was a result that broke Wycombe District’s four-year grasp on the award and was the ‘icing on the cake’ for Portsmouth’s director of swimming Amanda Booth after their best ever results at the Aquatics GB Summer Championships in the same week.

Meanwhile, the Masters competition saw more than 200 competitors take to the water in 2024, for the first full running of the competition since the pandemic.

Preston’s Michael Peacock and Stroud’s Sean Kinsey were amongst the standout swimmers with two golds apiece, whilst there was an emotional return to a national podium for Nick Parkes.

Further information for both competitions will be confirmed in due course and available on each competition’s webpage.
