Leeds Beckett University run men’s and women’s water polo teams in BUCS and UPolo leagues.

The university runs scholarships for talented junior and senior international athletes while they train at a pool on the Headlingly campus.

Leeds Beckett University Water Polo Scholarships

Junior or senior international level athletes are eligible to apply for a scholarship at Leeds Beckett University through the Carnegie Sports Scholarships Scheme.

The scheme features two scholarships – the Carnegie Focus Sport Scholarship, which does not apply to water polo, and the Carnegie Sports Scholarship, for which talented water polo players are encouraged to apply.

Athletes receiving a Leeds Beckett University Water Polo Scholarship will receive two strength and conditioning sessions a week, scholarship kit, support from the Performance Sport manager, a £500 bursary towards sports costs, and full sports and Athletic Union membership.

Sports Facilities at the Leeds Beckett University

Leeds Beckett University has two gyms – one on the Headlingley Campus and one at the City Campus Fitness Centre.

Both centres feature a wide range of cardiovascular and resistance machines while there is also a fully equipped strength and conditioning facility on the Headlingley Campus with free weights, lifting platforms and squat racks.

The university’s 21m swimming pool is also based at the Headlingley Campus Leisure Facilities.
