London Region Counties and Partners

Other than Swim England and its subsidiary organisations, Swim England London works with a wide range of stakeholders and organisations involved in aquatics across the capital and we therefore have partners we work with that you may want to find out more about, or get in touch with.

London Sport

London Sport is the County Sports Partnership for London (which as you can imagine, works slightly differently than other Counties outside of London, as we now just have one organisation that covers all London boroughs). Their work includes supporting national governing bodies such as Swim England, schools, leisure centres, local authorities, coaches, clubs and anyone else that contributes to the complex sporting landscape within the capital, and who all influence Londoners to become more active.

Their support can be through facilitating meetings and contacts, expert guidance on particular topics and they do also have some funding streams which they manage on Sport England’s behalf. Their website has a wealth of information but as they are still a relatively newly formed organisation, if there is anything you can’t find then if you contact them I’m sure they’ll be able to help or point you in the right direction.

UK Coaching

They are are UK’s technical agency for coaching, established as a charity more than 30 years ago to promote for the public benefit the education of sports coaches, youth and community sports leaders, physical education teachers and other people engaged in the teaching and encouragement of sporting skills.

One workshop in particular to highlight is the ‘Safeguarding & Protecting Children’ course which is the Swim England approved course to complete if you are in regular contact with children through your aquatics club, or if you are taking on the role of Welfare Officer.

Sport England

Previously known as the English Sports Council, Sport England is the funding agency for grassroots sport in the country. Their aim, similarly to London Sport, is to increase participation in sport and physical activity – no matter what their background, ability or age, in order to encourage people and communities to create a sporting habit for life.

Similar to London Sport, they have done a lot of research and collected data in order to provide insight into sports participation in this country (which you can access) and they also have numerous funding pots on offer. They are also responsible for campaigns such as ‘This Girl Can’, which you may be aware of, and for the Club Matters programme available to support sports clubs through useful resources and one-to-one support through industry experts.
