An opportunity to connect with the aquatics community

Alex Barrett, Swim England’s senior technical aquatics manager, said: “Our Learn to Swim Framework is widely acknowledged as giving teachers the best possible grounding for a successful career in aquatics.

“As a national governing body, we are passionate about great experiences for everyone in the water and especially in swimming lessons, and fundamental to that is ongoing training and growth of the teacher and managers which we are aiming to strengthen through this opportunity

“This is already the case with lots of training, but we have decided to reach out to the aquatics community and offer an opportunity to connect, provide new literature, training and ongoing support to enable them to enhance the skills, knowledge and experience they already have.

“The session has been created by the sector for the sector via Swim England volunteers tutor group, representing a unique experience for learning in the sector.”

Swim England’s Learn to Swim Framework provides swim teachers with the expertise to teach all the core aquatic skills, including diving and the four swimming strokes to 25 metres and beyond.

It also covers all outcomes of swimming and water safety within the national curriculum and trainee swim teachers are given more than 50 hours of guided learning delivered by licensed educators.

Barrett added: “We are proud of the Learn to Swim Programme and its incredible reach and popularity. We are constantly striving to make improvements to it, and we hope the people who come along to the tour will find the sessions really beneficial.”
