This certificate develops the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to be a land based coach for all aquatic disciplines.

Who is the course designed for?

This course is for those who hold the Swim England Coach Certificate in Swimming, Diving, Water Polo or Artistic Swimming or equivalent.

Alternative strength and conditioning qualifications may be considered for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). To see if your qualification could be suitable for RPL please email a copy of your certificate to [email protected].

Course delivery format

  • 4 x Zoom webinars: During this session, the tutor will cover set theory topics which will help to prepare you for practical sessions and provide you with knowledge of key topics.
  • 2 x full day practical sessions: These will consist of any remaining theory topics in a classroom setting and both peer and assessed practical delivery of land based sessions.

The course is delivered through a mixture of webinars and practical learning sessions.

  • Risk assessments for a land based session
  • The stages of participant development
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • The principles of training
  • Fundamental movement patterns
  • The different land based training methods
  • Common injuries linked to aquatics
  • Planning, delivery and evaluation of land based training
  • Planning for professional development

Prerequisites

You must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the course.

You must have one of the following qualifications:

Swim England Level 2 Coaching Synchronised Swimming or equivalent
Swim England Level 2 Coaching Diving or equivalent
Swim England Level 2 Coaching Swimming or equivalent
Swim England Level 2 Coaching Water Polo or equivalent
