100m Free Trophies

The Otter SC Trophy is awarded to the fastest male senior swimmer in the 100m Freestyle at the National Winter Championships (25m).

While the Winter Championships are traditionally a short course event, they were held in the long course 50m pool in 2017.

Until 2015, the Otter SC Trophy was awarded to the fastest male senior swimmer in the 100m Free at the ASA National Championships (50m).

History of the Otter SC Trophy

Founded in 1869, Otter SC is one of the earliest English clubs still in existance today.

This trophy is distinguishable by the silver otter situated on the lid of the trophy.

This famous club has produced several ASA presidents, noted administrators and coaches, numerous internationals and Olympians and pioneered Masters competitions in GB prior to onset of ASA national Masters events.

Based at successive venues in central London, Otter SC had an association with Oxbridge and other universities and is now a mixed club that specialises in Masters swimming and water polo.

However, in the pre and post war years, the men’s team were ASA champions, winning freestyle and medley relay championships.

Until 2015, the Ravensbourne Trophy was awarded to the fastest female senior swimmer in the 100m Free at the ASA National Championships (50m).

History of the Ravensbourne Trophy

Ravensbourne SC was a prestigious swimming club in the late 19th century, based at Central London baths and the club of George Hearn, who founded international governing body FINA in 1908.

A number of members were affluent gentleman amateurs and their annual gala often featured in the Illustrated London News detailing their exploits and often featured races for women.
