Event details confirmed for the GoCardless Swim England National Summer Meet
December 16, 2024The entry conditions, qualification window and schedule for the GoCardless Swim England National Summer Meet for 2025 have been released.
The window will open on Friday 7 March and close on Sunday 11 May 2025, where some of the top swimmers from across England will be looking to secure their spot at next year’s event.
Last week Swim England revealed the date of the event, which will take place at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge International Pool from Tuesday 29 July to Sunday 3 August.
Selection for the summer competitions are by invitation only, based on long course times achieved during the qualifying window, with the top-ranked swimmers invited to compete at the Aquatics GB Next Gen Championships.
Following that selection, swimmers will then be invited to take part at the GoCardless Swim England National Summer Meet.

2025 Competition Objectives
The 2025 Summer Meet objectives are:
- To contribute to a progressive competitive journey for English swimmers
- Maximise the opportunity for swimmers to compete at an end of season benchmark meet
- Promote the retention of athletes
- Promote multi stroke and skill development at the younger ages
The competition will be held across six days and aims to provide an improved experience for swimmers, coaches, volunteers and parents. Having reviewed the 2024 Summer Meet, please note the following:
- The numbers of invitees per event have been adjusted from the 2024 competition based on insight received from the swimming community. This will help to enable the running of an effective meet and improve the participant experience, whilst maintaining the overriding objective of ‘maximising the opportunity for as many swimmers as possible to compete at an end of season benchmark meet’.
- There is a retention of a six-day programme of events that will support performance and help to maximise athlete participation.
- An adjustment has been made to the event schedule that will give greater recovery from the GoCardless Swim England Open Water National Age Group Championships (taking place at Rother Valley on Saturday 26 July 2025) and will balance the distance event schedule.
- There is an increased opportunity for 14-year-old swimmers to be invited to the competition.
- The philosophy of events swimmers are able to compete in and age groups for finals (12/13, 14/15, 16, 17 and 18+) has been retained.
- Para swimmers to compete in heats and finals to support athletes’ transition to an international level.
- There has been an amendment to the competition conditions for eligibility to compete, as noted below:
In order to be eligible to compete in the GoCardless Swim England National Summer Meet 2025, competitor’s entry time must be in British Rankings and the competitor must also meet one of the two categories below:
- A competitor must have a Swim England club as their ranked club, Club Compete membership and be living and in full time training in the United Kingdom.
- A competitor must be eligible to swim for England, have a Swim England club as their ranked club and Club Compete membership. They may live and train outside of the United Kingdom.
